Lassen fire Safe Council Adds New Mission to Forest Wildfire Resiliency Efforts

Lassen Fire Safe Council adds a new element to its fire safety mission, reforestation. Managing Director of the Council Tom Esgate shares reforestation, albeit sounds counterproductive, benefits the landscape by building moisture content back into the forest as well as preserving the areas watershed. With this new mission the council is working on getting Cal-Fire grant funding for three additional 5,000 acre projects treatments in Mountain Meadows, Westwood, and a Dixiefire East and Beckwourth complex project (which aims to help small land owners throughout Doyle, Milford, and Janesville). The council expects to bring in up to 300 out of the area personnel this spring and summer season assisting with these efforts in and around Lassen County.
