Debris removal on the rock slide in the Feather River Canyon on HWY 70 has come to a stop. The slide has become active, with rock and debris continuing to slide into the river. Due to this contractors have been pulled from the site for safety reasons, halting any progress on clearing the roadway. It was estimated that over 5000 yards of rock slid across that roadway during the heavy storms. Caltrans anticipated re-opening at least one lane of the roadway by early next month. Now with the recent activity that plan will also be reassessed.
