Chester may be off the boil water notice by Saturday. There are a few things that need to happen first. Speaking to Allan Homme with Chester Utility District, today they are working on getting rid of all traces of chlorine in the system to allow sample testing to take place checking for any traces of E. Coli. If all tests clear another round of 24 hour sampling will happen. If those pass then the boil water notice can be lifted. The utility district has sampled all of their well sources and have identified one well that tested positive for the bacteria. Homme speculates that due to the heavy rain event an external pipe was flooded causing the contamination. Moving forward that well has been isolated and will be flushed and cleaned thoroughly with chlorine and any source of contamination will be fixed.
