Drivers in the Quincy area should prepare for traffic changes over the next several months as two major road construction projects get underway, bringing temporary closures, detours, and long-term improvements to local infrastructure.
Construction has already begun on Quincy Junction Road between Bell Lane and Chandler Road. The project, funded primarily through the Federal Highway Administration’s Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP), includes widening the roadway, adding paved asphalt shoulders, and improving pavement and drainage.
The biggest impact for local motorists will come later this month. Beginning July 28, Quincy Junction Road will be closed to through traffic at Clear Creek while crews complete extensive culvert replacement work. The closure is expected to remain in place through August 18.
During the three-week closure, drivers will be detoured via Chandler Road and Highway 70. Motorists who regularly use Quincy Junction Road should plan for extra travel time and consider adjusting their routes.

Meanwhile, another significant construction project is set to begin July 13 on the Snake Lake Road Bridge near Meadow Valley.
That project will replace the aging bridge with a new concrete structure designed to improve long-term safety and reliability. To minimize disruptions, a temporary bridge will be installed so traffic can continue to cross the area while construction is underway.
Work on the bridge is expected to continue through the end of October before pausing for the winter. Construction will resume during the 2027 construction season, with the new bridge expected to be completed next year.
County officials say both projects are aimed at improving transportation infrastructure and creating safer, more durable roadways for residents and visitors alike, though drivers should expect occasional delays in the work zones throughout construction.
