Fatal Head On Collision on Highway 395 Near Hall Road Injures Six Including One Fatality

An unidentified 39-year-old man from Sun Valley Nevada was killed and five suffered major injuries following a 6:05 a.m. head-on collision on Highway 395 north of Hall Road this morning, Tuesday, June 23.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol about 6:05 a.m. this morning, a 2025 Chrysler van, driven by Sade Knight, 43, of Sparks, Nevada, was driving northbound on Highway 395 when the van drove into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2014 Toyota pickup. driven by Candelario AlvarezLoz, 52, of Truckee, California. Both vehicles came to rest on the southbound shoulder of Highway 395.

One passenger in the Chrysler van sustained fatal injuries. The driver and remaining passengers of the Chrysler van (Knight; Sali Malupo Manu, 38, of Sparks, Nevada; Baron John Badillo, Jr., 27, of Susanville; and Marvin Nye, 37, of Reno, Nevada, were all transported to Renown Medical Center with major injuries.  AlvarezLoz, the sole occupant of the Toyota pickup also was transported to Renown Medical Center with major injuries.

This investigation is still on-going, if anyone has information, witnessed either vehicle on the roadway prior to the crash or witnessed the crash, you are asked to call CHP Dispatch at (530) 252-1900.
