Plumas Charter School announces that the Quincy site Mountain Valley Parents Club — the school’s parent-teacher organization — is inviting community members to lace up their running shoes and join in the Monster Dash Family Friendly 5K and Fun Run on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Feather River College. The race begins at 8:30 a.m., and organizers encourage participants to come in costume for a festive start to the Halloween season.

This year, PCS’ MVP Club is simplifying its fundraising efforts by hosting one major event instead of multiple smaller ones, said the school. The Monster Dash 5K will help PCS reach its annual fundraising goal, with all proceeds supporting student activities and enrichment programs.

All currently enrolled PCS students are welcome to participate free of charge. To support the fundraiser, each student is asked to raise $50 in pledges toward the overall goal. Families can collect donations using pledge envelopes that will be sent home in October, or supporters can give online through the event’s registration page.

Community members are encouraged to register online ahead of time.

“The Monster Dash 5K is not just a fun way to celebrate the season — it’s also an important way for our school community to come together in support of students,” said Nova Collinson, event organizer. “We hope to see families, friends and neighbors out running, walking or cheering on our participants.”

The MVP Club is also looking for volunteers to help with event planning and race-day logistics. Anyone interested can contact the Quincy site representative, Alyia Pilgrim, at [email protected], or reach out to Collinson directly at [email protected].
