Lassen High School Lockdown After False Armed Threat Prompts Police Investigation

At approximately 11:00 a.m, on September 14, 2026, Lassen County Dispatch receiveda phone call from an unknown male who reported that he was in the vicinity of Lassen High School and was armed with an AR-style rifle and explosives.
Lassen High School was immediately notified of the threat and placed on lockdown as a precaution. Officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the campus and secured the area. Law enforcement personnel conducted a thorough search of the entire campus. No weapons, explosives, or other threats were located, and there is currently no indication that an actual threat was present on the school grounds

As the investigation continued, it was determined that the telephone number used to make the threat originated from outside the area. The incident remains under investigation, and investigators are working to identify the individual responsible for making the call.
