Lassen National Forest, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and the Shasta Astronomy Club are teaming up to bring a captivating night sky viewing event featuring the Lyrid Meteor Shower at the Hat Creek Rim Overlook on April 20.
The Lyrid Meteor Shower, an annual celestial phenomenon, derives from the Earth traversing the trajectory of the Comet Thatcher.
Scheduled to commence promptly at 8:00 pm and conclude at 10:00 pm, the event promises an enlightening experience, complete with a Ranger-led hike and telescopic aids for observation.
In acknowledgment of the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, organizers caution that inclement weather or cloudy skies may necessitate event cancellation, with visitor safety taking precedence.
You can register for the event and learn more by visiting the Volcanic Parks website and Facebook page.
