Yet another Main Street storefront to be shuttered. Rite Aid on Main Street in Susanville will see its last day of operation before the month ends.

An open statement from corporate officials states Rite Aid routinely evaluates its store locations to optimize efficiency and cater to customer, community, and business needs. As part of a court-supervised process, the company has informed the court about closing certain underperforming stores to minimize rent costs and enhance overall financial performance.

Corporate officials say no final decisions have been made regarding additional store closures in the ongoing financial restructuring process.

Rite Aid had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October after having to restructure financing plans, as the Associated Press stated was in response to dealing with “losses and opioid-related lawsuits.”

The company said from its more than 2100 stores, it would be closing underperforming ones across 17. Closures have been announced on an almost weekly basis since the filing. Susanville’s location is the latest to cut.

Rite Aid on Main and Ash Street in Susanville will close its doors for good on January 22nd.
