In a recent development, Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi has been arrested in Mexico on suspicion of murdering her wife, Cal Fire Capt. Rebecca Marodi, in their Ramona home. Rebecca Marodi was found stabbed to death on February 17th. Authorities named Olejniczak Marodi as the prime suspect, and she has been apprehended in Mexicali, Mexico, then transferred back to the United States by U.S. marshals.
Rebecca Marodi was a respected captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known for her role in combating significant fires like the Eaton fire near Los Angeles. The couple had been married for over two years.
Olejniczak Marodi has a previous conviction for the fatal stabbing of her then-husband in 2000, for which she pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
Surveillance footage from the couple’s home captured a heated argument and physical altercation between the two on the night of Rebecca’s death. The video also shows Olejniczak Marodi leaving the scene in a silver SUV later seen crossing into Mexico. The investigation into the case is still ongoing, and it remains unclear if Olejniczak Marodi has legal representation.
