Amid soaring gas prices, Main street in Susanville sees the price at the pump pushing past the 5 dollar mark. Yet one California program seeks to help not only your pocket but the environment too. CalBike is asking for 10 million dollars in funding to provide incentives for Californians to buy e-bikes. The bikes are aimed to reduce those daily shorter distance gas powered car trips. The program budget request has been approved as part of Governor Newsom’s budget and is expected to roll out by July of this year. Only 10,000 people will get e-bike subsidies this round of the program with hopes to expand in the future. You can learn more by visiting the California Bike Coalition website.
