A Butte County Sheriff Office helicopter spotted a person matching Arturo Gonzales near his home this afternoon. The individual lay motionless in dense brush down a steep embankment.
Authorities called in a CAL FIRE hand crew to clear brush and a Search and Rescue ground team to reach the site. A CHP helicopter with medical staff and hoist equipment joined the effort.
Rescue teams provided immediate medical aid once they reached Arturo. They carried him out of the embankment for ambulance transfer, then moved him to an air ambulance. Medical crews flew him to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe Arturo fell down the embankment. The investigation remains active.
