Yamaha Motor Group’s Outdoor Access Initiative is supporting Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship through a $19,940.20 grant to help the continued restoration of the Mount Hough OHV recreation area in the wake of the 2021 wildfires, which left lasting maintenance issues.
The grant will help fund restoration work primarily on the Mount Hough, Tollgate and Indian Falls Ridge trails, which each sustained significant damage when the high-intensity Fly Fire started burning Mount Hough on July 22, 2021, then eventually merged with the Dixie Fire, burning nearly 1 million acres across Plumas County.
Since the fire, SBTS crews have worked through the entire trail system for a full three seasons, putting in hundreds of hours to clear out downed trees and debris, remove hazard trees, construct new drains and address sheet flow impacts clearing. Read more on how this grant will help further the ongoing efforts of the SBTS Pro Trail Crew.
