A message from our friends at Caltrans District 2! If you’re planning to travel during this holiday week, be safe and be prepared❄️
– Winter Travel Advisory for December 21 – 27, 2021 –
The National Weather Service is forecasting more significant winter weather for the Northern California area, starting Tuesday and lasting through the holiday weekend, with multiple rounds of rain, wind, and heavy mountain snow! Lower elevation snow is also a possibility during this time, as snow levels are forecasted to continue to drop throughout the week and into the weekend/early next week. Motorists should plan for chain controls in higher elevations and are advised to check weather and roadway conditions prior to and during breaks in travel.
Higher elevation travel is extremely discouraged during this upcoming winter weather pattern. Motorists who must travel into higher elevations must carry chains, be prepared for winter driving conditions, expect delays and possible closures, and follow instructions of Caltrans personnel and law enforcement. Motorists who do not comply with chain controls endanger their own safety and the safety of other motorists around them.
