Lassen County Public Health is reminding residents to take precautions as a heat advisory remains in effect across the region.
The advisory is in place through 8 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, and includes the communities of Loyalton, Westwood, and Susanville.
Public Health officials say extreme heat can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors, people in poorly cooled indoor spaces, older adults, and others who may be more vulnerable to high temperatures.
Residents are encouraged to:
Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated.
Spend time in air-conditioned or cooler locations when possible.
Limit time in direct sunlight.
Check on relatives, neighbors, and others who may need assistance during the heat.
Officials are also reminding residents to monitor wildfire smoke conditions. Air quality can change quickly due to shifting winds, and residents should check current conditions before spending extended time outdoors.
