According to the Modoc National Forest, the Clear Fire sparked just after 3 pm on Wednesday near Clear Lake Reservoir while the area was under a red flag warning.

Originally believed to be under 100 acres, yet fueled by the winds and heat, the fire was accurately mapped at a much larger scale. As of yesterday evening, the Forest Service reports that the fire is 10% contained, with fire resources actively constructing containment lines.

A more current update is expected early today.
