Road work reminder, starting today, Monday, August 19th, Caltrans begins two projects that could slow down your commute.
The first of which is the Back Forty Chip Project on U.S. 395. Crews will be working on a stretch of the highway east of Litchfield, from just past Mapes Lane to Karlo Road. They’re laying down new asphalt, repairing the road, and refreshing the striping. Asphalt repairs begin this evening working nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday.
Next week, they’ll move on to chip seal operations, which could last through September, with one-way traffic control in place during the day. Expect delays of up to 14 minutes.
Also starting today, Caltrans will be replacing curve warning signs at multiple locations. You might hit a few 5-minute delays on U.S. 395 between Litchfield and Madeline, and on State Route 284 near Frenchman Lake.
So, plan ahead, take it slow, and give yourself some extra time to get where you need to go.
