Washoe County Homicide Investigation of Doyle Man: Public Assistance Sought in Fatal Shooting Near California Border

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred near the California border. Deputies from both Washoe County and Lassen County responded to Fish Springs Road following a report of a battery with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound who was later identified as 39-year-old John D. Allen of Doyle, California. Allen managed to flee to Doyle, where he became unresponsive and was pronounced dead after first responders arrived.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide, with the cause being a gunshot wound to the torso. Detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the case and are asking for public assistance. They encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division or Secret Witness. A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
