Starting tomorrow, afternoon highs will plunge by several degrees, bringing the lower valleys back into the comfortable mid-90s. Higher up in the Sierra, a dramatic shift is underway, with temperatures expected to drop all the way into the 70s later this week.
However, this transition brings new risks. Fire crews are on high alert as gusty winds, low humidity, and a chance of isolated dry thunderstorms bring a distinct threat of lightning strikes to the mountains. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as the region transitions to this cooler, but highly dynamic, weather pattern.
