Last week a Susanville man was taken  into custody at the Lassen County Jail on charges of evading a police officer, driving under the influence and obstructing a police officer.

According to a statement by the Susanville Police Department, about 1:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, a Susanville Police officer observing traffic on Main Street near N. Sacramento Street saw a vehicle traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed. The officer estimated the vehicle’s speed at 62 miles-per-hour and verified it with a radar unit at 62 mph in a 30-mph zone.

The officer activated emergency lights and siren and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle turned off Main Street and continued driving at a high rate of speed in residential neighborhoods. The officer attempted to keep pursing the vehicle and momentarily lost sight of the vehicle.

Another officer located the vehicle and continued to attempt to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle ultimately pulled over in the Meadowbrook Apartments parking lot.

The driver of the vehicle, Elijah Mossinger, of Susanville, was arrested without incident and was booked into the Lassen County Jail.

Th SPD thanks the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office with its help regarding this incident.
