Summer Burn Ban Starts Monday

SHARE NOW

CalFire Lassen Modoc Unit will suspend burn permits beginning Monday. High temperatures and high winds are rapidly drying out the grasses that are flourishing following a wet winter and above-average snowpack.

All burn permits for outdoor residential burning will be suspended in the State Responsibility Area under CalFire’s management in Lassen, Plumas, and Modoc Counties. Outdoor residential landscape debris burning will no longer be allowed.

CalFire urges homeowners to take this time to prepare your home and property for wildfire by creating defensible spaces. This includes clearing a 100ft barrier around your home and outbuildings, and landscaping with  fire-proof plants and non-flammable ground cover.

If you have yard waste it is best to be taken to a green waste facility.

The burn suspension does not include campfires at your home or within organized campgrounds.
