The Stones-Bengard Community Service District Volunteer Fire Department secured a California Fire Foundation grant to provide much-needed gear for volunteer firefighters.
The CSD was awarded $10,000 in September to purchase new wildland and structure turnouts. According to Stones Bengard CSD board member Cheryl McCormack, the current uniforms have reached the end of their useful life and will be replaced. She emphasized that these new turnouts are vital for keeping volunteers safe in various situations.
Other recipients of funding from this round of grant monies include:
– Little Valley Volunteer Fire Department: $15,351.00 for Personal Protective Equipment
– Downieville Fire Protection District: $15,526.65 for Specialized Equipment
– Doyle Fire Protection District: $20,000.00 for Personal Protective Equipment
The CA Fire Foundation is a a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that provides emotional and financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters, and the communities they protect. Formed in 1987 by California Professional Firefighters.
