SHARE NOW

An agricultural burn near Wendel will bring smoke to surrounding areas.

Beginning today, Calfire’s Lassen Modoc Unit will assist the California Department of Fish and Wildlife with the ag burn project at the Honey Lake Wildlife Refuge (Wendel Area). The planned project will continue throughout the next two weeks as the weather allows.

The goal is to reduce 1100 acres of flammable fuels and will reduce and improve the natural habitat of the refuge.

You may see an increase in fire personnel and vehicles; the Standish Volunteer Fire Department will also be on the scene supporting efforts.

You can expect to see smoke from the Honey Lake Valley and near Wendel for several days; you are asked not to report it.
