Search Warrant Leads to Two Arrests for Possessing Firearms,
Narcotics, and Child Abuse
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office AB109/SAFE team members, SINTF Detectives, and Burney Patrol Deputies responded to the 19000 Block of Highway 89 in Hat Creek for a search warrant service. The subjects of the search warrant were 60-year-old John Pearson and his wife 42-year-old Amy Moore. Pearson is a convicted felon and prohibited from owing or possessing firearms. During the search of the residence, deputies located approximately 6 grams of Methamphetamine, 41.2 grams of Heroin, 1.9 grams of Cocaine, 1 gram of Psilocybin, narcotic paraphernalia, a semi-automatic handgun, a revolver, several loose rounds of ammunition, an operable stun gun and pepper spray. The semi-automatic handgun was later found to have been reported lost to the Redding Police Department in 2011.
Also inside the residence was Pearson and Moore’s two children (ages 4). The residence was found to be in deplorable conditions. The narcotics and paraphernalia were located within reach of the children. Based on the dangers posed to the children they were released to the custody of Children and Family Services.
Pearson and Moore were arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail. Moore was charged with 273A(B) PC – Willful Cruelty to a Child, 11377(A) H&S – Possess Narcotic Substance, and 11364(A) H&S – Possess Narcotic Paraphernalia. Pearson was charged with 273A(B) PC, 29800(A)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 30305(A)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition, 11377(A) H&S, 11364(A) H&S.
