A Saturday collision sent two to the hospital by helicopter near Portola. Around 8 pm on Genesee Rd west of Grizzly Rd. Stefan Venne, 21, of Fairfax, CA was driving his 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit with an 18-year-old passenger Landon Watson, of La Jolla, CA. for an unknown reason Venne drove off the roadway and collided with a tree. The incident trapped Venne inside the Volkswagon, his passenger though was able to exit the vehicle and run to a nearby home to find help. Emergency personnel arrived and began extracting Venne. Both Venne and Watson were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via helicopter for medical attention.
