Today the Modoc County Sheriff Tex Dowdy assisted Russ Turner, Wildlife Technician for USDA Wildlife Services with a suspected wolf kill investigation. This is the second suspected wolf kill in a week at this ranch in Jess Valley. It is the fourth on this same ranch in less than a month. Take note of how close this is to homes located on the ranch. A ranch hand told the Modoc County Sheriff today that he fears for his children’s safety as all four of these cattle were killed in close proximity to his home.
Due to the increasing number of reported suspected and confirmed wolf kills, this is quickly becoming a public safety concern in Modoc County. Please be hyperaware of your surroundings when conducting your chores around your ranches.
