Loyalton’s water woes continue as repairs begin to get underway to the town’s water main leak.
Discovered nearly a month ago the water leak has been losing hundreds of gallons of water. During the County supervisor’s board meeting on September 20th, the town was faced with a decision that the state would not step in with funding. Mayor Jackson announced two bids were offered at costs well above the city engineer’s estimates but negotiations led to some savings.
Work on the line began on Monday affecting homes on Second, Lewis, and West Mill Streets. To enable the repairs the city’s water gets shut off between the hours of 7 and 5 pm in these areas.
As of yesterday a boil water notice for the entire town has been issued as repairs continue. Once the line is determined to have no bacteria will the notice be lifted.
Repairs to the main water line are expected to be completed by the end of the week.
