The Reno National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory as the region braces itself for the hottest temperatures so far seen this year. Temps are expected to be in the triple digits to the weekend with only light winds expected. The heat is more extreme with this heat wave as temperatures do not recover much overnight with lows well above normal sitting between the upper 60s to mid 70s in some locations. The heat advisory is in place from 11am Thursday to 10pm Saturday. Children and the elderly are susceptible to heat illness, stay hydrated, and take advantage of cooler temperatures in shopping areas and theaters. Wearing light colored and loose fitting clothing and avoiding using heat producing appliances in the home can help keep you cool. By next week a low pressure will be approaching bringing potential of some moisture early in the week.
