The Sierra and statewide snowpack take significant strides with a boost from the recent storms.

The Central Sierra Snow Lab says after receiving 5 feet of snow at the Lab, the Statewide snow water equivalent has increased by 23% in the last week, now sitting at three-quarters of the average to date.

In the Nothern Sierras, that percentage is near 100%, sitting at 83% of the average for this time.

Forecasters were weary that the snowpack was heading for a decline, awaiting impactful winter storms, which arrived with the atmospheric river event that swept over the entire state last Friday.
