Portola’s mayor has passed after a long battle with cancer, leaving a vacancy on the council. Today the city will meet to discuss filing the seat and appointing a new mayor and mayor pro tem, currently held by Bill Powers.
The mayor passed on March 7th and was known as an active community member. After moving to Portola in 2003, he joined the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce and even helped reduce fuel for fires by the River Walk and Highway.
The city council will meet at 6 pm at City Hall.
