Butte County DA charges 11 men in a poaching incident along the Feather River. In December a witness saw a group of men along the banks holding varying firearms and making game calls. The witness suspected the group to be poachers as it was not deer hunting season and knew some of the guns carried by the men were illegal for hunting. Upon spotting the group a call was made to CalTIP, the CDFW’s poaching and pollution hotline. Out of the 12 men the DA filed charges for the 11 that admitted to taking deer out of season, having no hunting license, and using illegal rounds. 13 firearms were seized from the men as well with one found to be stolen from Grass Valley. CDFW attributes the success of the case to the witness that called in the incident and awarded them with 750 dollars.
