Sandbags –
Community members are calling in to see if the County can provide sandbags. At this time, Plumas County Public Works maintains supplies of sand and bags which are intended for public infrastructure protection. Only under special circumstances may these supplies be accessed to protect private property.
Requests for assistance for private property owners typically come through the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office (283-6300) and are routed to the local fire department. If after assessing the situation and identifying the need for sandbags, firefighters must coordinate with public works crews to access sand and fill bags at the nearest public works yard. Only firefighters and designated volunteers are permitted in these yards.
Sandbags can be purchased at your local hardware store.
