Firefighters on the Plumas National Forest Beckwourth Ranger District plan to conduct the burns about 2 miles north of the community of Delleker and 1 mile north of Highway 70. At 10 am, crews will begin ignitions to treat around 25 acres of machine piles near Willow Creek Road.

With some forecasted winds, officials say smoke is expected to travel northeast toward the Lake Davis area. Smoke may be seen, but it’s not expected to linger long for nearby areas like Delleker and Portola. There might be some short-term, small impacts on Highway 70 and nearby forest roads due to brief periods of smoke if necessary. If necessary, firefighters will implement traffic controls due to visibility, but it remains unlikely.

Firefighters will be monitoring conditions throughout operations and will continue to patrol as needed.
