Patti’s Thunder Café in Quincy is one of the 154 hometown restaurants across Northern and Central California receiving a financial boost from the California Restaurant Foundation (CRF) and The PG&E Corporation Foundation. This year, the PG&E Foundation contributed $900,000 to fund $5,000 in grants aimed at supporting locally-owned restaurants and commercial caterers through equipment upgrades, workforce training, and other business investments.

The grants are part of the PG&E Foundation’s ongoing effort to strengthen the long-term success of independent restaurants, helping them continue to contribute to their local economies and communities. The funding, sourced from PG&E shareholders and not customers, supports restaurants in 29 counties within PG&E’s service area.
Patti’s Thunder Café is among the 32 grant recipients in the greater Sacramento and North Valley region. The grants are available to California resident restaurant owners with fewer than five locations and less than $3 million in revenue, with a focus on minority- and women-owned businesses.

Since the CRF launched the Restaurants Care Resilience Fund in 2021 to help restaurants recover from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, PG&E and The PG&E Foundation have been key supporters. This year marks the fourth consecutive year of funding from PG&E, bringing the total contribution to $3.2 million and supporting a total of 675 restaurants and caterers across the region.

For Patti’s Thunder Café, the grant will provide a valuable opportunity to invest in business improvements that can help ensure its continued role as a beloved community gathering spot in Quincy.
