Plumas National Forest has approved the North Quincy Forest Resiliency Project, a critical initiative aimed at reducing wildfire risks for Quincy and surrounding communities. Covering nearly 9,000 acres, the project will involve timber removal, thinning, and prescribed burning to manage vegetation and reduce fuel loads around homes and critical infrastructure.
This project, part of the larger Wildfire Crisis Strategy, is a direct response to the severe wildfire damage that has affected over two-thirds of the forest in recent years. It aims to enhance community safety and create a more resilient landscape.
The project promises increased protection against wildfires and improved road conditions for safer evacuations.
The North Quincy Project is expected to begin soon, with ongoing updates to be provided to residents and visitors.
