Letter carriers across the nation will engage in the annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive this Saturday, May 11th, collecting non-perishable food donations along their routes.

Coordinated by the National Association of Letter Carriers, this initiative is the largest one-day food drive in the United States. You are encouraged to leave food donations by your mailboxes before your post person delivers your mail on Saturday. If you do not have a mailbox or live in areas including Standish, Litchfield, Westwood, or anywhere within the outskirts of the County, you can still participate by dropping off your donations at the Main Post Office in uptown Susanville or the Eagle Station on Johnstonville Road before Saturday.

This is the program’s 30th year running, occurring every second Saturday of May. Since its inception, the drive has delivered more than 1.82 billion pounds of food. Studies show that one in 10 people faces hunger every day.

Your donations of non-perishable food will be delivered to local food banks, aiding in the community-wide effort to alleviate hunger.
