The Modoc National Forest is beginning to winterize many of the forest’s recreational sites. Water services have been shut off, and trash collection and restroom cleaning services are also coming to a halt as winter conditions limit site access. Some have already received a healthy amount of snow with the latest round of storms. As services to the sites become reduced, the forest service reminds you to plan accordingly.
One site will remain open with services. That will be The Willow Creek Campground, which is available for dry camping, and will have trash removal and restroom cleaning. It will remain open until snowfall.
Also, with Fall officially in full swing bringing cooler, wetter weather conditions increasing fuel moisture lowering fire danger, the Modoc National Forest fire restrictions have been lifted as of October 24, 2022. You can return to having campfires outside of developed campgrounds and recreation sites, although you will need a California campfire permit.
You can visit the forest service’s website for more information.
