Modoc National Forest Makes Winter Adjustments

SHARE NOW

In response to freezing overnight conditions, several recreation areas within the Modoc National Forest are implementing adjustments for the season, affecting water systems and services. Here are the impacted areas:

Doublehead/Big Valley RD Water System Shutdowns:
Medicine Lake Recreation Area: With limited services, camping fees are waived, and the water system is offline. Visitors should bring their own water and pack out trash. Bathrooms remain open and serviced.
Willow Creek Campground: Water supply is turned off, and visitors are advised to bring their own water and manage trash properly. Bathrooms continue to be open and maintained.

Warner Mtn RD Water System Shutdowns: The following locations will no longer have water service: Cave and Lily Lake Campground and Day Use Area, Soup Springs Campground, Mill Creek Falls Campground, Howard’s Gulch Campground, Patterson Campground, and Stough Reservoir Campground. Visitors are urged to bring their own water and handle waste disposal appropriately.

A few water systems, including Pepperdine Campground, East Creek Campground, and Blue Lake Campground, will remain operational into October, subject to weather conditions. Forest officials recommend checking the status of these campgrounds before planning your visit.
