Soon to be HUNTERS: There will be a Traditional Hunter Education class on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office Annex. The online course is no longer an option. The class starts at 8:00 a.m. and goes until 5:00 p.m. or so. This is a one-day class. The handbook and workbook can be picked up in advance, at ACE Hardware in Alturas. There is homework to complete prior to the class as advised on the website. Completion of the workbook allows you 2-hours credit towards this class. There is no cost for the class or materials. A passing score of 80% is required. The class size is limited to 30 people. Since this is a one-day class you can bring your lunch and drinks.
You will be given breaks during the class. To register, go to CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife’s website, Hunter Education. Upon passing the test you will be issued a certificate to obtain a hunting license. If you have issues locating the registration process, send me your email and I can send an invite.
