The team removed dead and fallen trees along the paths as well as marked trailheads with orange diamonds throughout the trail to help you stay within the trail and not get lost. Much of the work was completed from the Little Mount Hoffman trail from Medicine Lake Headquarters Campground starting point to the end location at Little Mount Hoffman Look Out Tower that overlooks Mount Shasta. The forest service trail team is made possible by a near one million dollars for trail work from funding from the Forest Service Trails Program, along with the Great American Outdoors Act. The awards began in the 2021 season with the hiring of seasonal trails and wilderness technicians, as well as hosting a Student Conservation Association 5-person crew. The Forest has already agreed to host SCA crews during the years 2022-2024. Using a portion of the GAOA funding, the Forest will also enter a trail’s management partnership agreement with the Pit River Tribe.
