Modoc County Woman Sentenced for 2023 DUI Crash

Mindy Weidner has been sentenced for her role in a DUI crash that occurred on the night of August 27, 2023, which nearly claimed the lives of several pedestrians. The Modoc County District Attorney’s Office announced her sentence on Wednesday, November 20.

Weidner pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges, including driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher causing injury, with enhancements for excess blood alcohol and causing great bodily injury. Additional charges included brain injury/paralysis, bodily injury to multiple victims, and carrying a concealed firearm that was loaded and readily accessible but not registered.

Her sentence includes an eight-year suspended prison term and a two-year county jail sentence. Upon release, Weidner will face eight years of formal felony probation with conditions that include participating in a SCRAM alcohol monitoring program, completing 100 hours of community service, and undergoing DUI classes. Failure to meet these conditions will result in her serving the full eight-year prison term.

The District Attorney’s Office and the Victim Services Department emphasized their continued support for the victims and their families, acknowledging the lasting trauma caused by the crash.
