Managing Fire for a Safer Forest Future: Eagle Lake Ranger District Operations Underway

Prescribed Fire operations continue today, and throughout the week on Eagle Lake Ranger District on both the Whaleback Site Prep Piles, near Whaleback Mountain, off county road A1, west of Spalding and Eagle Lake and Diamond Wildland Urban Interface Project, on Diamond Mountains near Baxter and Gold Run creeks.
Smoke may be visible from Lassen County Road A1, the community of Spalding, HWY 395, Susanville, and Honey Lake Valley.
Smoke will be low to moderate during initial burn periods, and last 4-5 days after ignitions are complete. Signs will be posted. Smoke impacts will be monitored. Please use caution if near these areas while crews work to clean up piles.
