Mammoth Mountain is documenting this as a record year of the most snow
The constant winter storm has officially made a record for the most snow for Mammoth Mountain, passing all-time snowfall in history since the last one in 2016. Since Tuesday Afternoon, receiving 28-30 inches of snow has landed the record of 695 inches of snow at Main Lodge and 87 inches at the Summit this 2023 season.
Workers have routinely worked on digging out lifts from giant snowpacks to operate the mountain. The heavy snow tension did raise an avalanche activity and icing on lifts. The park was able to get 15 lifts spinning while some stayed buried.
The nonstop snow has made the workload more intense for workers and daily to keep the park open. With all the snow received, it will leave the mountain open to guests til the end of July for spring skiing.
