The city of Loyalton has a new camera downtown. The Chamber of Commerce worked on the project for several months to provide a solution for you to view the conditions on the road through town, with the added benefit of helping those who can’t make it out to events to view them from home. The camera sits on top of Leonards’s IGA market and pans east to west for a full panoramic view of the thoroughfare. Mike Welbourn, with the chamber, says the camera does not record but offers an excellent opportunity to Loyaltonians and travelers before they head out. The camera was recently installed just over a week ago. The chamber hopes that with a successful launch, they will be able to add a camera to the Sierra Valley at the hwy 49/89 intersection in Sierraville.
The camera is owned and operated by Community Media who also operates several cameras throughout the Tahoe region for the past 20 years.
