Diamond View Middle School students showed their community spirit by collecting a remarkable 1,300 food items to support local organizations fighting hunger. On October 25, the school celebrated this achievement with an assembly highlighting the students’ dedication to helping families in need.
The competition awarded points based on item types, with baby formula valued highest to emphasize its importance. Students collected a range of essentials all donated to the Public Health Food Bank in Herlong, Crossroads Ministries, the Salvation Army, and Lassen Family Services.
The drive, coordinated by Megan Gray of the Lassen County Office of Education, went smoothly thanks to her collaboration with community agencies. “This event not only showed the incredible compassion and community spirit of our students but also helped them understand the impact they can have on others’ lives,” shared Principal Dede Heimbigner.
Diamond View Middle School sets an example by instilling values of service, empathy, and teamwork in its students, preparing them to become future community leaders.
