Lost Creek campgrounds and Volcano Adventure Park of the Lassen National Forest are in desperate need of a water improvement project. The sites experience periodic flushes of volcanic ash debris near the spring-fed origin of Lost Creek which prevents it from being used for drinking as it does not meet the state drinking water standards. Right now you can provide your comments on the proposed project to replace the surface water collection system with a subsurface source. This would mean a well would need to be drilled, and a water pump, tank, and treatment building would be installed. You will have until June 19th to submit your comments. You can visit the National Park Service Planning, Environment, and Public comment website to view the project details and how to submit your comments.
