The Plumas Fire Safe Council is awarded an $823,000 grant from the Lassen National Forest. The funds are efforts to help treat over 750 acres of hazardous fuels for the Almanor Peninsula Wildfire Protection Project.

The Lassen National Forest has also had the help of volunteers and staff from the Mule Deer Foundation to install two guzzlers on either side of Whaleback Mountain in the Lassen National Forest.  Volunteers from the MDF’s Susanville, Quincy, and Redding chapters installed the water source as part of conservation efforts to sustain mule deer populations during these drought years as they will provide critical water to the deer in the area along with other wildlife. The Lassen National Forest Ranger District Office of the U.S. Forest Service has partnered with the Mule Deer Foundation on this and other projects in the area.
