Today marks the last day your children and their teachers will be required to wear a mask when in their classrooms. The California Department of Public Health will still highly recommend the use of a mask when indoors in these settings but the mandate to wear them will disappear after today. This week marks two years of the declaration of the COVID-19 global pandemic by the World Health Organization. For perspective, your second graders likely have little memory of days in school without COVID restrictions, masks, and protocols. Many have called for the unmasking of children ahead of the mask lift yet this group has been one of the last following the announcement to end mask mandates on February 28th.
