The Lassen County Board of Education was proud to recognize two
outstanding Lassen High School students whose artwork was recently featured in the 2025
Curriculum and Instructional Support Committee (CISC) Leadership Symposium Student Arts
Showcase in Southern California.
Students Abbie Bgatov and Charlie Teeter were selected to represent Lassen County alongside
entries from across the state, highlighting the creativity and talent of California’s youth. Their
work was displayed for thousands of administrators, educators, and education leaders attending
the annual symposium.
Abbie Bgatov’s untitled piece was inspired by her love of color and dimension, offering a vibrant
and thoughtful representation of her artistic vision. Charlie Teeter was honored for his whimsical
and imaginative work, Flamingo in the Sky, which captivated audiences with its originality.
As part of the recognition, the students received a Certificate of Recognition from Letty Krous,
Director of the California County Superintendents Arts Initiative, celebrating their contribution
to arts education and their creative accomplishments.
“We are so proud of these students and their representation of Lassen County on a statewide
stage,” said Patricia Gunderson, Lassen County Superintendent of Schools. “Their creativity
reminds us all to keep dreaming, keep inspiring, and keep creating.”
The Lassen County Office of Education commends Abbie and Charlie for their hard work and
encourages all students to continue pursuing the arts as a powerful form of expression and
learning.
