The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of citizens receiving telephone calls from someone identifying themselves as an employee of the Sheriff’s Office. The caller tells the citizen they missed a jury summons, are required to obtain money orders and bring them by the Sheriff’s Office to clear their fines. They are using a program to show the Sheriff’s Office business line on the caller ID.
We want to remind everyone that the Sheriff’s Office does not collect fines for missed court appearances or are people fined for missing jury duty. We would never ask for someone to come to our office to pay fines for the court. Please be aware of these fraudulent callers.
